THE OPPENING SPEECH
The oppening speech of the Empanada Festival is one of the most anticipated moments of each edition of the gastronomic event. Currently, it takes place on Saturday, coinciding with the traditional empanada contest and before the grand feast of the groups.
Since 1987, the Empanada Festival has welcomed illustrious heralds like Camilo José Cela and Alfredo Conde, renowned chefs such as Pepe Solla and Lucía Freitas, politicians like Abel Caballero and Xerardo Fernández Albor.
Actors and actresses like Luis Zahera, Gloria Ferreiro, Mela Casal, Carlos Blanco, and Teté Delgado, entrepreneurs of the stature of Miguel Durán, and prestigious journalists like Fernando Ónega, María Rey, Pilar Cernuda, or José María Carrascal have also played this role.
